FORMER APPRENTICE NOW A SENIOR MANAGER AT WREXHAM WIRE
Nick O’Keeffe has been appointed Engineering Manager at premium wire manufacturer Wrexham Wire with responsibility for keeping the company’s equipment running at optimum efficiency to produce the high-quality wire supplied for products for the automotive, construction, furniture and bedding industries.
Nick joined as an engineering apprentice and with sponsorship by Wrexham Wire achieved ONC and HNC qualifications via day release study. He then graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) with a Degree in Electrical Engineering and is now less than a year away from completing his Masters in Engineering Management at MMU.
Operations Director Jonathan Chappell says: “Nick has worked across a wide range of areas of the factory. He started out shadowing experienced staff, gradually building up his practical experience and theoretical knowledge. Working his way up in this manner has given him a really deep appreciation of the processes that are undertaken and the challenges that come with them.”
Wrexham Wire invests in a continual apprentice recruitment and training programme with its current cohort working through the company’s production and electrical & mechanical departments.
